Ukrainian Foreign Ministry urges to stop diplomatic ties with Russia
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin thinks that Kiev does not need diplomatic relations with Russia. He also added that he supports the launch of a biometric visa regime with Russia, Kommersant reported.
"I personally and emotionally believe that we do not need diplomatic relations with Russia," Klimkin said during a talk show.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister predicts that nearly 40 agreements between the two countries will be suspended in the near future.
"We have recently "killed"48 bilateral agreements. The next dose of about 40 contracts is to follow very soon," Klimkin said.
Russia-Ukraine relations have flared up after the Russian ships opened fire on November 25 towards two Ukrainian gunboats and a tug at the Kerch Strait off the coast of Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. 24 Ukrainians were detained and at least 3 were wounded in the incident.
Ukraine described it as an "act of aggression". Russia said the ships had illegally entered its waters.
