CSTO not to elect new secretary general by 2019
The leaders of the Russia-based Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states will not elect a new secretary general by 2019, the chief advisor to Armenia’s acting PM, Arsen Gasparyan told RBC Russian media group.
As reported earlier, a meeting of the CSTO leaders is scheduled for December 6 in St. Petersburg. There will also be a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and an informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on the same day.
“The CSTO secretary general issue will not be discussed. The agenda has already been submitted to all the participants of the meeting,” Gasparyan said.
The official also added that no new CSTO meeting is planned by the end of this year, thus the new chief of the organization will not be named by the New Year.
