World's largest touring Swan Lake arrives in Berlin
The world's largest touring performance of Swan Lake is gracing the stage of Berlin's Theater at Potsdamer Platz until December 16.
In the Shanghai Ballet production of the Tchaikovsky classic, a total of 48 swans pirouette, arabesque and plie in unison, double the usual 24, Euronews reports.
For British Choreographer Derek Deane, the extra numbers are a challenge: "We have to spend a lot of time on the musicality of the movement, and we also have to really work on the coordination between each dancer. So it's just about a matter of having enough time to be able to rehearse it properly and well enough for that amount - that body of people to work together."
After the Berlin run, the next stop is Vienna.
