Nikol Pashinyan extends condolences to families and fellow servicemen of dead pilots
Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred to the Armenian Armed Forces SU-25 military aircraft crash today in Armavir marz.
"I had worrying news this morning and the news were confirmed with all the details an hour ago. The Armenian Armed Forces SU-25 aircraft crashed and our two officers, two very experienced pilots were killed,” Nikol Pashinyan said.
He extended his condolences to the pilots' families, fellow-servants and relatives, and honoured the memories of the killed pilots with a minute of silence.
The SU-25 military jet of the Armenian army crashed Tuesday morning after it had disappeared from radar screens shortly after take-off, killing the two pilots aboard, Lieutenant Colonel Armen Babayan and Major Movses Manukyan.
The aircraft crashed into the mountains in Armenia's Maralik district. The jet was conducting a daily training flight from Armenia's second largest city of Gyumri. It took off from the Gyumri airport at 10:06am.
The Investigative Committee is probing into the causes of the crash.
