Parliament fails to start regular session amid lack of quorum
The regular four-day session of the Armenian National Assembly failed to start on Tuesday morning due to a lack of quorum.
Speaker Ara Babloyan reminded that according to the law the registration of MPs will continue until there is a quorum, but no longer than four hours, calling on the lawmakers not to leave the parliament building in that period of time.
Among other issues, the MPs are set to discuss the petition filed by the attorney general to strip Republican lawmaker Aram Harutyunyan of immunity for criminal proceedings in suspected $14 million bribery case.
Under Article 51.4 of the law “On Statute of the National Assembly”, a session of the parliament can be convened in case 53 out of the 105 MPs are registered.
