Missing military jet of Armenian army crashes into mountains; pilots dead
The Su-25 military jet of the Armenian army that disappeared from radar screens shortly after its takeoff on Tuesday morning, has crashed, killing the two pilots aboard.
The jet aircraft has crashed into the mountains in Armenia's Maralik district, a spokesman of the Defense Ministry, Artsrun Hovhannisyan said on Facebook.
“The killed pilots are identified as Lieutenant Colonel Armen Babayan and Major Movses Manukyan,” he wrote.
The jet was conducting a daily training flight from Armenia's second largest city of Gyumri. It took off from the Gyumri airport at 10:06am.
