Today, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has invited the EU representatives of Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden as well as domestic and international observers to present the technical equipment to be used for voter registration during the snap parliamentary elections on December 9, 2018 as well as the CEC preparatory works for the elections.

CEC reports that during the event, various possible scenarios in the process of registering voters through the device were demonstrated, including submission of an incorrect document by a voter, appearance at a wrong polling station, not being included on the voters list, and double voting.

The CEC also presented printed and other materials issued for raising the voters’ awareness, including a badge for voters who will cast their ballots for the first time.

Participants of the event were also presented the work of the cameras performing simultaneous online broadcasting during the voting process at all polling stations, and the ballot counting procedure.

The European Union, Germany, the United Kingdom and Sweden are funding the Electoral Process Support Program in Armenia to assist the Armenian authorities to hold transparent snap elections, as well as improve the skills of the Armenian electoral bodies. The program is implemented by the United Nations Development Program in Armenia.
