Armenian military jet pilots performed training flight, fire drills one day before crash
The pilots of the Su-25 military jet of the Armenian army that crashed during a training mission on Tuesday had conducted a training flight and a series of fire drills one day before the crash, the Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan said on Facebook.
“The boys [pilots] performed a training flight and fire drills just one day before [the crash]. They were conducted at a very high level with excellent marks,” Hovhannisyan wrote, posting a video of the drills.
As reported earlier on Tuesday, the military aircraft disappeared from the radar screens shortly after its takeoff from an airbase in the second largest city of Gyumri.
The jet reportedly crashed into the mountains in Maralik, killing its two pilots identified as Lieutenant Colonel Armen Babayan and Major Movses Manukyan.
The possible cause of the crash wasn’t immediately clear.
