NA Speaker: Armenia appreciates the activities of observation missions at the stage of election preparations
The delegation headed by the Vice-President of the Italian Senate Paola Taverna is in Armenia within the framework of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Observation mission on snap parliamentary elections in Armenia. Speaker Ara Babloyan received the delegation Wednesday.
"Armenia appreciates the work of the observation missions at the stage of preparation and conducting of the elections, which is necessary for the development of democracy and, in particular, the electoral system and processes," Babloyan said.
The head of the legislative body noted with satisfaction that the Armenian community of Italy and the common cultural and democratic values unite and strengthen the relations of the two countries. The National Assembly Speaker thanked the Italian authorities and people for the warm attitude towards the Armenian community.
Paola Taverna noted that the visit will contribute to the deepening of centuries-old friendly ties and cooperation between Italy and Armenia. "We are in a country that is creating its path through democracy, and we want to help strengthen that process," the Vice-President of the Italian Senate said.
