Armenian soldier missing in avalanche found dead
The Armenian soldier reportedly missing in an avalanche in Armenia’s Syunik region has been found dead.
The serviceman is identified as Hayk Karamyan, 23, an official of the Defense Ministry, Gevorg Altunyan told Panorama.am.
He was a contract soldier holding the rank of sergeant, who was stuck with four other servicemen in an avalanche in the town of Sisian on Wednesday.
Defense Ministry spokesperson Artsrun Hovhannisyan told Panorama.am earlier today that 4 of the servicemen had been found and recovered, adding that the search and rescue operations for the missing soldier were underway.
Altunyan said no information is available on the health condition of the 4 soldiers at the moment.
