Canada to allocate 2,5 million dollars to Ukraine for fighting Russia’s propaganda
Canada will contribute about 2,5 million dollars to support fighting Russian propaganda during elections in Ukraine, Ukrinform reported, according to 112UA.
‘Canada will provide a package of assistance to support the government of Ukraine, civil society and independent media in countering Russian disinformation prior to the 2019 elections,’ Canadian MFA claimed.
It is also noted that Canada will allocate funds in response to the disinformation activities of Russia, designed to influence the results of parliamentary and presidential elections. Also, Russia's goal is to destabilize the Ukrainian state and to spread doubts about the legitimacy of democracy as such among its citizens, the MFA said.
The Ukrainian Parliament scheduled presidential elections for March 31, 2019.
