President: Free and fair elections are critical for the advancement of Armenia
President Armen Sarkissian received the EU delegation headed by Heidi Hautala. The delegation is in Armenia to monitor the snap parliamentary elections scheduled for December 9.
The officials talked about the Armenia-EU relations and stressed the importance of a speedy ratification of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between Armenia and EU for making the relations more efficient and practical, the President’s press office informed.
Underscoring that free and fair elections are critical for the future and advancement of the country, President Sarkissian stressed the importance of the formation of traditions and culture of parliamentary democracy, establishment of strong and viable democratic institutions and mature civil society in the country.
