Constantine Orbelian and Dmitry Hvorostovsky nominated for 2019 Grammy
Constantine Orbelian, director and artistic director of the Armenian National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet after Spendiaryan, and Russian opera singer Dmitry Hvorostovsky, who passed away in 2017, are among the 2019 Grammy Awards nominees. They were nominated for Verdi’s "Rigoletto" performance in the "Best Opera Recording " category, according to TASS. This award is given to the conductor, the main performer and the album's producer.
Dmitry Hvorostovsky stopped performing at opera theaters in late 2016, due to illness, but he did not stop his activity in general. He died on November 22, 2017, at the age of 55.
Constantine Orbelian and Dmitry Hvorostovsky were also among the 2017 Grammy Awards nominees in the category "Best Classical Solo Album" for the recording of Georgy Sviridov's song cycle, 'Russia Cast Adrift'.
The 2019 Grammy Awards Ceremony will take place on February 10, 2019 in Los Angeles.
