Polls closed at Armenia’s snap parliamentary elections
All polling stations closed throughout the territory of Armenia at 20:00 local time in the manner prescribed by the Electoral Code. It is expected that the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) will soon publish the final voter turnout of the parliamentary elections held on Sunday. As reported earlier, the voter turnout was 39,54% as of 17:00.
To remind, eleven political forces, including nine parties and two blocs, are running for the parliament – the My Step bloc, We bloc, Prosperous Armenia Party, National Progress Party, Christian Democratic Revival Party, Sasna Tsrer party, Rule of Law party, Armenian Revolutionary Federation- Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) party, Bright Armenia party, Republican Party of Armenia, and Citizen's Decision Social-Democratic Party.
22 local and several international organizations are conducting an observation mission in Armenia, including OSCE/ODIHR, PACE, CIS, CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, European Parliament, SILBA (Support Initiative for Liberty and Democracy) and ENEMO (European Network of Monitoring Organizations).
Overall, 13 experts, 24 long-term and 250 short-term observers are in Armenia to monitor proceedings on the election day.
