Parliament speaker: Snap election results ‘twice obliging’ for winners
National Assembly Speaker Ara Babloyan has congratulated the political forces on their victory in the December 9 snap parliamentary elections, stressing the election success is obliging since it entails a great responsibility toward the voters.
“Despite the differences between the political forces, their election race and fierce competition, the atmosphere created during that period enabled the Armenian citizens to make a decision outlining his or her future expectations and desires,” the official said in a statement.
“The election results, as pleasing as they are for the political forces elected to the parliament, are twice obliging since by receiving the confidence of the voters, the political forces must always remember they have committed themselves to the task of fulfilling those voters’ expectations and desires, which they must realize with a great responsibility,” Babloyan said.
“I hope you will succeed, dear colleagues. I congratulate you on the formation of the new parliament and wish you new achievements and success in the future legal activities for the sake of strengthening Armenia, security of Artsakh and welfare of our people,” the statement says.
Armenia’s early parliamentary elections saw Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s My Step bloc win a landslide victory with over 70 percent of the vote. The Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia parties have also won parliamentary seats with 8.27% and 6.37% of the vote, respectively.
