3 dead, including 12-year-old child, in Armenia house fire
Three people, including a 12-year-old child, have been killed in an apartment fire in Stepanavan, a town in Armenia’s Lori region.
The emergencies ministry’s two fire and rescue squads were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report at 6:30am Tuesday.
Rescuers recovered the bodies of two victims, aged 36 and 59, from the apartment located in a 2-storey wooden building.
Two others, said to be 26 and 12 years old, were removed from the house and hospitalized at Stepanavan Medical Center. But the 12-year-old child later died at the hospital, the ministry said.
The blaze was isolated at 7:15am and extinguished at 7:25am. The fire burnt down a closet, a bed and a floor space of about 10 square meters in the apartment.
The cause of the deadly fire wasn’t immediately clear.
