Lukashenko apologizes to Pashinyan for ‘attacking’ him at EAEU summit
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has revealed some details of the hot discussions which took place during a recent summit of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in St. Petersburg.
At Friday’s meeting with Russian reporters, Lukashenko said that the EAEU leaders extended apologies to each other at the summit, including himself. He also accused the Russian media of disseminating fake news about Belarus.
“I offered an apology to [Acting Prime Minister of Armenia] Nikol [Pashinyan] for attacking him due to various reasons. Putin offered an apology to everyone. It was such a mess there… [Kazakhstan President Nursultan] Nazarbayev started apologizing. It did happen. We indeed offered apologies to each other during the meeting. But they [Russian mass media] shuffled the facts in a special manner,” BelTA quoted Lukashenko as saying.
According to him, some Russian media reports alleged that he apologized to Putin for ‘daring to speak up’ at the summit.
