President: Armenians and Georgians are truly brotherly nations
The delegation headed by President Armen Sarkissian of Armenia was present on Sunday at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili which took place at the palace of Erekle II (also known as Heraclius II) in the town of Telavi.
Before the ceremony, President Sarkissian, responding to the questions of journalists said in particular: “Armenia and Georgia, as well as our two nations, have millennia-long friendly and brotherly relations. We are truly brotherly nations. It’s more than natural that the President of Armenia is present here today when Georgia elected a new president.
"I congratulate Georgia and the President of the country. I wish Georgia and the new President success for the coming years.
"I am looking forward to working with the President of Georgia, the government and parliament of the country, and most importantly, with the people to further strengthen our relations.”
In the framework of the event, the Armenian president had brief conversations with the heads of the delegations present at the ceremony and a group of guests.
Later on Sunday, President Sarkissian attended a dinner hosted by Georgia's president-elect to honor the high-level delegations which have arrived to the country.
