Justice minister says visited jailed ringleader of 1999 Armenian parliament attack
Armenia's Actng Justice Minister Artak Zeynalyan says he has visited Nairi Hunanyan, the jailed ringleader of the group that committed a terrorist act in Armenia’s parliament on October 27, 1999.
Speaking at a news conference on Monday, Zeynalyan said he has had a private conversation with the convict serving a life term for the crime.
"We talked about his health condition. I advised him to exercise more," the official said.
Separatrely, Zeynalyan said he disbelieves the reports alleging that one of the judges dealing with the case of Armenia's second President Robert Kocharyan, has faced pressures and another judge has voiced it.
"I don't want to comment on it as it should be excluded. If it were so, it would amount to a violation of the Judicial Code. A judge has no right to make such statements and I do not believe it," he said.
