Ex-ombudsman: Tough rhetoric traded by Armenian, Artsakh officials 'unacceptable'
Former Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia Larisa Alaverdyan considers unacceptable the tough rhetoric traded by the top Armenian and Artsakh officials.
"I negatively evaluate tough expressions made by Nikol Pashinyan in address to the Artsakh authorities. They were not proper for a high-ranking official. Such tone and wording are inadmissible for me," she told a news conferance on Monday, referring to the acting PM's statments made during his election campaign in regard to the Artsakh officials.
Alaverdyan, who heads the Foundation against Violation of Law NGO, also agreed the recent dismissal of Artsakh Defense Army Commander Levon Mnatsakanyan with Pashinyan's statements, a claim strongly denied by the authorities.
He drew parallels with the case when Acting Chairman of the Artsakh Supreme Council Georgy Petrosyan was sacked after the visit of Armenia's first president to the country.
"Only this time, the president of Artsakh was invited to Armenia instead of a visit by an Armenian official," she said.
According to Alaverdyan, Mnatsakanyan will remain as a person with supreme values for both soldiers and state and political figures.
“Whoever is appointed to the post now, is facing a challenge to keep the level set by Mnatsakanyan,” she said.
