Pashinyan says no new development in Artsakh issue
There is no new development in Artsakh talks, acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan told reporters at a briefing on Wednesday. Pashinyan’s comments came in request to comment on Azerbaijani MFA’s recent statement about a common ground reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in Milan.
“The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan along with the Minsk group co-chairs have agreed on a joint statement text that hasn’t been agreed for a long period. We had numerous similar statements over the course of the past 24-25 years. There is no new development in Artsakh [process]. One can judge about the intensity of Artsakh talks as much as they are publicly communicated. You can consider the intensity a bit higher to compare with the low dynamics we have had over the past 25 years,” Pashinyan said.
The PM, however, stressed he has not participated in any official negotiation over the Karabakh settlement, instead having only two brief conversations with Ilham Aliyev.
To remind, earlier the Armenian foreign ministry issued a clarification about agreements reached at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Milan.
The agreements specifically were about the ministers’ commitment to continue their meetings in the near future by maintaining the formed dynamics and on a joint statement of the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers and the heads of delegations of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries.
