Troops remain vigilant – Artsakh official
The head of Azerbaijani State Border Service Elchin Guliyev announced days ago about the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s instruction to transfer the combat posts and military facilities on the state border with Armenia across Gazakh and Agstafa regions to the control of the State Border Service. The statement, however, mentioned no dates for the implementation of the transfer. Thus, Azerbaijani border guards are set to replace the army forces at the border section with Armenia’s Tavush province.
Panorama.am turned to Davit Babayan, the Head of Information Department at Artsakh President’s Office to comment on the latest decision of the Azerbaijani side.
“It is too early to assess this statement. From one hand it is a positive development to replace army forces with border guards; from another hand, we are to closely following what is the reality with the replaced forces – whether they are going to move the troops to other locations bordering with Artsakh or Armenia. We need time to answer all those questions,” Babayan stressed.
In Babayan’s words, the Armenian side should stay watchful and detect all movements of the adversary to understand the logic of the Azerbaijani actions.
“One thing is clear – we should never forget about the anti-Armenian policy of Azerbaijan. We should never lose our vigilance and need to preserve the high level of our combat readiness,” Babayan said, adding: “The troops remain vigilant and conduct their duties in due manner.”
