Garo Paylan congratulates Pashinyan during a speech in Turkish parliament
Istanbul-Armenian MP Garo Paylan, representing the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), has congratulated acting Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan on his political alliance’s victory at Armenian parliamentary elections. Paylan’s congratulation came during a speech at a Turkish parliament session on Thursday. Addressing the Speaker of the parliament, Paylan has said:
“Dear Chairman,
Last week parliamentary elections took place in neighboring Armenia. Nikol Pashinyan and his friends who came to power following the Velvet revolution in April, had great success, receiving the 70 per cent of the votes. On this occasion, I congratulate from Turkish Mejlis the Armenian people, Nikol Pashinyan and his friends,” Paylan has stated.
In his speech the Turkish-Armenian MP has also spoken about the relations between Armenia and Turkey.
“After elections, Pashinyan announced about readiness to establish relations with Turkey without any preconditions and I do hope Turkey is also ready for that. I want to use this occasion to call on the Mejlis speaker the Turkish president to give constructive response to this statement. I believe there can be no issue that cannot be resolved through peace policy with Armenia we have a closed border with for 25 years,” Paylan has said.
The MP has concluded his speech in Armenia, wishing success to Pashinyan and his friends.
