Weightlifting: Armenia’s Andranik Karapetyan wins bronze at Qatar Cup
Armenian athlete Andranik Karapetyan has won a bronze medal at the 5th International Qatar Cup weightlifting championship that came to an end in Doha on Sunday.
Karapetyan lifted 161kg in snatch and 180kg in clean and jerk, taking the third place in the 81kg weight category with a combined total of 341kg, the National Olympic Committee told Panorama.am.
The Qatar Cup was one of the qualifying tournaments for Tokyo Olympics.
Armenian weightlifters are on a brief vacation now and will start trainings on 15 January for their first major tournament in 2019 – the European Weightlifting Championships to be held in April in Batumi, Georgia.
