Armenian president expresses condolences over Indonesia's tsunami tragedy
President Armen Sarkissian of Armenia has offered condolences to his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo over tragic consequences of a tsunami that hit Sunda Strait on Saturday night.
In a message of condolences, Sarkissian has expressed his deepest sympathy and support to the Indonesian leader and the friendly people of Indonesia, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured and endurance and courage to the families of the victims of the tragedy.
Citing Indonesia’s disaster agency, AP reports that the death toll from the weekend tsunami has climbed to 373, with 128 others missing and 1,459 injured in the disaster.
The waves washed ashore along western Java and southern Sumatra islands Saturday night following a volcanic eruption.
Hundreds of military personnel and volunteers combed debris-strewn beaches Monday looking for victims.
