Brigitte Bardot says Macron has ‘no compassion’ for animals
French movie star Brigitte Bardot accused President Emmanuel Macron of not supporting animal rights, saying she was “fed up” with his attitude on the subject.
"This government has got off to a very bad start," Bardot told AFP ahead of publishing an open letter Wednesday to the French government on the subject. "Macron has no compassion for animals and nature."
The “And God Created Woman” actress criticized Macron’s recent holiday at the Chambord hunting chateau in the Loire Valley.
"He congratulated hunters in front of their game while it was still warm," she said. "It's scandalous and very inappropriate."
Bardot is set to publish a book titled "Larmes de Combat" (Tears of Combat) next month about her fight for animal rights. Her self-titled foundation this week launched a campaign against the use of fur in fashion.
