Armenian government allocates over 5bn drams to tackle housing issue of ex-servicemen
The Armenian government has adopted a decision to allocate 5 billion 705 million drams to over a thousand demobilized soldiers to settle their housing issue.
At a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Acting Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan said that the assistance program will cover 1,141 former servicemen, 326 of whom live in Yerevan.
The beneficiaries will each receive apartment purchase certificates valued 5 million drams.
Acting First Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said the measure will finally solve the soldiers’ pending apartment issue that the state failed to deal with for years.
Armenia’s defense chief added the beneficiaries can use the funds to buy apartments or build their own houses also in regions.
