Armenia’s acting energy minister expects no rise in Russian gas prices
Armenia is in talks with Russia on the possibility of gaining a price cut for natural gas supplied to the country, Acting Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Garegin Baghramyan said.
Speaking to reporters ahead of today’s Cabinet meeting, Baghramyan stressed the talks have always been time consuming and he doesn’t share the claims that this time the negotiations lasted much longer, urging reporters to wait a few days.
Commenting on the proposals made by Russia, the official said he is not ware of them, then added: “There are no proposals. The best result for us would be a price cut,” he said.
Baghramyan refused to speak about the risks emerging from a possible increase in Russian gas prices.
“I don’t think the tariff will increase. Naturally, we are conducting negotiations toward the reduction of prices,” the acting minister said. “I think, the gas prices won’t grow,” he added.
