Travelling exhibition of Aivazovsky’s works to be launched in Russia
The artwork of the Russian-Armenian great marine artist Hovhannes Aivazovsky throughout Russia. As Russia’s Deputy Culture Minister Alla Manilova has stated, the exhibition will feature the works of the artist from the Aivazovsky National Art Gallery in Feodosia, Crimea.
As TASS news agency reports, the exhibition tour is planned in 2019. According to Manilova, the paintings will be well protected during the tour. “It is a developed technology. All the paintings have insurance and secondly, all relevant arrangements are considered, including the shipping, storage and the preservation,” the deputy minister has said.
To note, Aivazovsky is considered one of the greatest marine artists in history. Baptized as Hovhannes Aivazian, Aivazovsky was born into an Armenian family in the Black Sea port of Feodosia and was mostly based in his native Crimea.
At the age of twenty, he graduates from the Art Academy of St. Petersburg with a gold medal. He goes to Italy to continue his studies and returns as an internationally acclaimed seascape painter. Neither financial security nor life in Palace interests him. He returns to his native land, builds a workplace on the seashore and, until the last days of his life, dedicates himself to the work that he loves. He participates in exhibitions all over the world.
