Some roads difficult to pass in Armenia amid snow, snowstorm
Some highways are difficult to pass in the territory of Armenia as of 8:50am Friday due to heavy snowfalls and snowstorm, the Ministry of Emergency Situations told Panorama.am.
According to the ministry, Vardenyats Pass is closed for all types of vehicles due to snow, while the roads in Spitak, Sotk-Karvajar and Stepanavan-Odzun highways are difficult to pass.
Alagyaz-Artik, Aparan-Aragats, Aparan-Kuchak and Lanjik-Mastara highways are partly covered with black ice.
Snowfalls have hit the towns of Hrazdan, Goris, Jermuk, Gavar, Martuni and Vardenis, as well as Aragats and Yeghvard districts, Abovyan-Charentsavan, Vedi-Ararat and Saravan-Zanger roads.
The ministry reports snowstorm along Aparan-Kuchak, Lanjik-Mastara highways and in the city of Gyumri, Ashotsk village and Amasia district.
Drivers are strictly recommended to use winter tires when traveling to regions.
According to the Emergency Situations Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Stepantsminda-Lars highway is shut down for all types of vehicles.
The General Department of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia reports stuck vehicles on the Russian side.
