Pashinyan: No decision on Russian gas price yet
No decision has been reached yet on the price of Russian natural gas supplied to Armenia, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said late on Thursday in a live video on Facebook, summing up his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin held in Moscow earlier on the same day.
“The gas price discussions will continue in a working format. We certainly agreed that it’s a very sensible topic for both parties. But I am optimistic about it and hope that the developments will be desirable for us, or at least not undesirable,” he said.
Pashinyan said the meeting focused on the strategy of the further development of Armenian-Russian relations. “In fact, we have a perfect understanding on the strategic development of the relations between our countries. By and large, this meeting was a kind of summary of the meetings we have held so far,” he said.
The acting PM hailed the atmosphere of the talks as ‘highly positive’. “Our relations are so extensive that we didn’t manage to discuss all the issues on bilateral agenda during the meeting,” he said.
Pashinyan added Thursday’s talks with the Russian leader didn’t address the Artsakh conflict. They managed to briefly discuss the situation around the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
“Our position is that we need institutional solutions to make amendments to the CSTO Charter to prevent similar debates,” he said.
