Putin congratulates Kocharyan on New Year and Christmas holidays
Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan on the New Year and Christmas holidays.
In his congratulatory message, the Russian leader wished the former Armenian president ‘sound health, strong spirit and tenacity’, Kocharyan's office reports.
Kocharyan, who is charged with overthrowing Armenia’s constitutional order during the March 1-2, 2008 post-election clashes in Yerevan, is under renewed arrest since 7 December.
A Yerevan court is set to examine today a motion filed by his lawyers to release the ex-president on bail.
