Traffic accidents kill 4, wound 32 others in Armenia in New Year holidays
A total of 4 people died, while 32 others were injured in road traffic accidents throughout Armenia during the New Year holidays, with most incidents caused by drunk driving, the police statistics show.
The statistics were recorded during the two days from December 31, 2018 to January 2, 2019.
The capital, Yerevan reports 11 road accidents in two days, due to which 14 people suffered injuries, while 4 people died and 18 were wounded in 14 road accidents in Armenia’s regions during the New Year celebrations.
In a Facebook post, the head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Armenian Police, Edgar Janoyan said police officers fined a total of 33 drunk drivers on 1 January, with their vehicles taken to special protection facility of the traffic police.
“We once again urge drivers to strictly follow the traffic rules,” he added.
