Negotiations underway to ensure alternative route for Lars – acting minister
Negotiations and discussions over having alternative routes to Lars road are underway, acting Minister of Transport and Communication Hakob Arshakyan told reporters at a briefing on Thursday.
The acting minister declined to provide details on the talks, only pointing that the negotiations are held in trilateral format. “Lars is neither Armenian-Georgian nor Armenian-Russian border. It is the Russian-Georgian border, and as a third party I would refrain to make comments for now,” added Arshakyan.
To note, Lars, which is the only road connecting Armenian to Russia, periodically shuts down due to frequent landslides and snowdrifts caused by adverse climatic conditions.
