My Step nominates Ararat Mirzoyan for parliament speaker
The My Step faction which holds majority in the new Armenian National Assembly has nominated former First Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan as parliament speaker.
The head of the My Step faction, Lilit Makunts introduced their candidate to the MPs-elect at the inaugural parliament session on Monday.
The new speaker is to be elected in a secret voting with the majority of votes of the total number of lawmakers.
Mirzoyan served as an MP from the Yelk faction in 2017, assuming the office of the First Deputy Prime Minister in May last year.
