Armenian government frees imports of electric cars from VAT
The government approved a legislative initiative to exempt the imports of electric vehicles from VAT (value added tax) at a meeting on Thursday.
The measure aims to create favorable conditions for the acquisition and use of electric cars in the country, reducing air pollution and energy dependence.
The government will submit the legislative initiative to the National Assembly in a manner prescribed by law.
“We should be interested in increasing the number of electric cars in our country," said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the Cabinet meeting.
He reminded that after its approval, the legal measure doesn’t enter into force yet: it can be withdrawn at any stage of its discussion.
