Yerevan court to issue ruling on Kocharyan’s measure of restraint today
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction is expected to deliver a ruling on former President Robert Kocharyan’s measure of restraint on Friday.
The court has examined two motions – one filed by the ex-president’s lawyers, requesting the court to release him on bail, and the other by the Special Investigative Service, seeking to extend Kocharyan’s arrest for another two months.
Kocharyan was placed under renewed arrest on 7 December.
He is charged with overthrowing Armenia’s constitutional order during the March 1-2, 2008 post-election events in Yerevan. The former president strongly denies any wrongdoing.
