EAEU Prime Ministers set to discuss price for natural gas transit within the economic union
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) PMs will gather on February 1 in Kazakhstan to discuss the price for natural gas transit in the EAEU common market, the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan has stated on Friday at the session of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
In Sargsyan’s words the matter of determining the price for natural gas transit is still pending with various approaches to be adopted.
“Since there are different approaches to the matter, we have to come up with a consensus,” Targsyan said, speaking of the upcoming meeting.
“One approach suggests setting one transit price for all the EAEU member states and this price should not be higher than prices used in Russia. Another approach suggests determining the price for gas transit at the supranational level. The third approach refers to the fact that the national governments should be the ones to determine gas transit prices inside their own countries,” the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission outlined the main approaches.
