PM says discussions with Aliyev are about the history of NK peace process
The meeting between the Armenian PM Nikola Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Davos had not been arranged in advance, PM Pashinyan said during a Facebook live on Wednesday.
“Thus, this was the third meeting with Ilham Aliyev, third conversation and none of them had been arranged in advance,” the PM said, adding the general agreement is not to avoid a meeting whenever an event with the participation of the both leaders happens.
Pashinyan reiterated the idea that the conversations are of informal nature, saying: “That is to say, these meetings are not considered to be the launch or a stage in the negotiations process.”
In regard with the latest meeting in Davos, Pashinyan said the conversation took place at the suggestion of organizers.
As to the content of conversations with Aliyev, the PM said. “We currently discuss the history of the peace process. What happened when, what was the situations at specific stages of the process. For sure, we elaborate on possibilities in the context of moving forward in the negotiations. I want to stress that no concrete elements are discussed and what we have is an exchange of thoughts.”
Pashinyan dismissed any theories of conspiracy and plots circulated on media over his interactions with President Aliyev.
