Armenia’s Penitentiary Service to target social reintegration of prisoners in 2019
Despite the positive dynamics observed in the penitentiary system, the Justice Ministry will push ahead with its efforts towards the further development of the sector with bigger enthusiasm, Minister Artak Zeynalyan said during his visit to the Penitentiary Service on Thursday.
Deputy Justice Minister Suren Krmoyan thanked the whole staff of the service, stressing in 2019 the Penitentiary Service will target the social reintegration of prisoners, application of encouragement measures for good behavior, as well as elaboration and implementation of programs to prevent self-injury and suicide attempts, the Justice Ministry said.
Meantime, the official said this year the efficiency of the activities carried out in penitentiaries will be assessed by the statistics of repeated offences by convicts after their release.
