FM Mnatsakanyan regrets about Aliyev statements, says we have enough potential to protect ourselves
Armenia’s FM Zohrab Mnatsakanyan didn’t exclude another meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov - this time on the sidelines of Munich Security Conference. The minister added, however, the dates and other details will be communicated to public later.
Mnatsakanyan’s remarks came at a joint press conference with EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Johannes Han on Tuesday.
FM Mnatsakanyan expressed regret over recent statement by Azerbaijani president about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict,
“The trust in our approaches and positions have always been and is now high. Our approaches are well known and clear. All of you know what the status and security issues mean to us. The matter of the status should be decided by the people of Nagorno Karabakh. Speaking about security, we mean the environment that exists today that ensures the comprehensiveness of the security environment. There is no need for me to repeat what capabilities we possess to protect ourselves and inflict losses. We have the decisiveness, and there is no need to voice it every time,” Mnatsakanyan said.
He added that the Armenian side is interested in solving the conflict through peaceful means which requires the respective environment and atmosphere.
To remind, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced on Monday that Azerbaijan’s positions are firm in the NK settlement process and that the principle of territorial integrity remains the main issue for Azerbaijan.
