Armenia’s economic activity up 5.8% last year
The economic activity index (EAI) of Armenia grew by 5.8% last year from the previous year, according to the latest figures released by Armenia’s Statistical Committee.
As the statistics show, the index at the same time increased by 24.3% in December from November 2018.
Industrial products rose by 4.3% last year, growing by 12.5% in December against the production volumes of November 2018.
Meantime, Armenia’s gross agricultural output saw a drop of 7.6% in 2018, while it grew by 22.1% in December from November.
Last year saw 0.2% and 4.5% increases in energy production and construction sectors, respectively.
Meantime, trade turnover grew by 8.7% from January to December 2018, up by 34.1% in December from November. As for the external trade turnover, it rose by 16.4% last year, with the exports increasing by 7.8% and imports – by 21.1%.
In 2018, services secured the utmost growth comprising 18.8% for the whole year and 15.7% for December alone.
The figures show that the average monthly salary in Armenia rose by 3,8% in 2018.
