Speaking of peace does not mean questioning the decisiveness – FM Mnatsakanyan
“What Mr. Pashinyan did was a brave step as he spoke about the peace, however speaking of peace does not mean questioning the decisiveness,” Armenian FM Zohrab Mnatsakanyan told reporters on Monday, when asked to comment on German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s remarks days ago about “brave steps” by Pashinyan.
As the foreign minister said peace equally refers to Armenian, Karabakh and Azerbaijani people and voicing about it is brave.
“We would much appreciate if the other side comes up with similar statements,” added the minister.
At a remark that in Pashinyan’s words Armenia will never discuss “territories for peace” formula followed by Azerbaijani MFA comments whether Pashinyan statements means refusal from negotiations, Mnatsakanyan said:
“That is not true as Armenia continues its part in the talks,”. The minister reminded also that the conflict has three sides and Armenia acts as the guarantor of the Nagorno Karabakh.
