Editor of Azerbaijani news agency Turan Shahin Hajiyev has arrived in Armenia with a group of reporters to perform professional activity.
On the sidelines of their visit, the journalists accredited by the Armenian Foreign Ministry have held meetings with Armenia’s political figures and reporters.
According to the information obtained by Ermenihaber.am, the team of journalists has also visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan.
An adviser to the Armenian president, political analyst Tevan Poghosyan has weighed in on Hajiyev’s Yerevan visit too.
He posted a photo with the Azerbaijani journalist on Facebook and revealed that he had given an interview to Hajiyev who had promised not to distort his words.
In a comment on the post, the analyst said the Azerbaijani journalist seeks “to understand the public opinion in Armenia”.
Meantime, Hajiyev has made no posts on his Armenia visit on social media.
Turan says the consent of the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan and Armenia was obtained for the editor’s trip to Armenia, adding Hajiyev is accompanied by his assistants from Georgia and Russia.
The materials prepared by the reporters will be published on Turan and Contact news agencies.
“We kindly request not to distort or add information about the purpose of this trip,” the Azerbaijani media outlet said.
