Aznavour’s son gifts Armenian duduk to Macron
Nicolas Aznavour, the son of legendary French Armenian crooner Charles Aznavour, has presented a duduk, a traditional Armenian flute made from apricot wood, to French President Emmanuel Macron.
The singer’s son handed over the Armenian instrument to the French president at an annual dinner organised by the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organisations of France on Tuesday, Le Point reports.
During the event, Macron paid tribute to Charles Aznavour who died on 1 October last year and French-Armenian composer Michel Legrand who passed away on 26 January.
The attendees watched a video about Charles Aznavour and listened to his song Les Émigrants.
As reported earlier, addressing the Armenian community at the dinner, President Macron said that France would make April 24 a national day of commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.
