Iranian Ambassador expects quick ratification of free trade deal with EAEU
Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei told Sputnik on Friday he expects the Iranian parliament to ratify the free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran in the near future.
"The document has been sent to the Iranian parliament. It is being extraordinarily considered and consequently will soon be approved," Sanaei told the Rossiya 24 broadcaster.
He pointed out the importance of the Iran-EAEU free trade agreement for Tehran.
"For Iran the agreement is very important as well because it opens a big market for Iran and also opens Iran for northern countries.
We need to improve trade relations with Russia and other countries. I hope and believe that creation of the free trade area will help us," Sanaei added.
To remind, the EAEU and Iran signed a provisional agreement on establishing a free trade zone for a period of three years in May 2018. The accord envisages reduction or removal of import customs duties on a wide range of goods. The parties also agreed to launch talks on the full-fledged free trade agreement no later than a year after the provisional deal enters into force.
