MP: Government program section on foreign policy should not be very detailed
A lawmaker from the ruling My Step bloc, Hovhannes Igityan disagrees with the clams that the foreign policy section of the new government’s action plan is not multi-vector, stressing the program features several diverse priority directions.
Igityan’s comments came after he was elected chairman of the parliament’s Standing Committee on Foreign Relations at its inaugural session on Monday.
“If we look at the program, it will clearly be seen that there are several key directions which are priorities and are diverse,” Rubinyan told reporters. “I don’t think that the government program, especially the foreign policy section, should be very detailed. In this regard, the program should present the main directions,” he added.
Separately, the lawmaker also said Armenia had sent a team of specialists to Syria, not troops as some claim.
“In a statement, the Defense Ministry clearly announced the legal grounds based on which the team of specialists was dispatched to Syria,” he noted.
