Defense minister, UN Resident Coordinator discuss the Armenian humanitarian mission in Syria
Defense Minister of Armenia Davit Tonoyan received on Monday the UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, UNDP Resident Representative Shombi Sharp. As the press department at the defense ministry reported, during the meeting Minister Tonoyan presented the tasks and aims of the Armenian humanitarian mission in Syria.
To remind, the 83-member group of Armenian humanitarian experts, including doctors, sappers, as well as supporting personnel headed to Aleppo, Syria on Friday to carry out humanitarian mine clearance activities, raise mine awareness among the population, as well as offer medical aid in Aleppo exclusively outside the zone of military operations.
Issues of common interest related to cooperation with UN were discussed during the meeting, the source said.
