MP: New government program fails to promise economic revolution
The head of the Prosperous Armenia opposition faction in the parliament, Gagik Tsarukyan described the new government’s action plan a beautifully written document full of wishful thinking.
“I don’t hide it that there are 2-3 provisions the implementation of which will make people feel positive changes in their lives,” Tsarukyan told reporters at the National Assembly.
Asked whether the faction assesses positively the program and will vote in favor of it, the lawmaker said: “A political revolution took place, today it’s time for an economic revolution. This is not a program of economic revolution, we can’t vote in favor if it doesn’t undergo changes.”
Tsarukyan argues that an economic revolution requires financial sources, mechanisms and deadlines, however the government’s action plan lacks them all. He stresses economic reforms are necessary for attracting investments.
“We won’t go and ask people to come and invest. Investments require changes in the law and conditions. Investors must comparatively view what conditions exist in other countries of the world. Ours should be better to attract investors to Armenia,” he added.
Tsarukyan said if a political revolution requires ‘spirit and will’, an economic revolution requires funds and sources for it, which are missing in the government program.
