Some 150-200 employees to be dismissed as part of the ministries’ merging – PM Pashinyan
Some 150-200 employees will be dismissed as a result of the optimization of the state administration, Armenian PM Pashinyan stated on Tuesday at the National Assembly during the Q/A session with lawmakers. Pashinyan’s remarks came at a question of one of MPs asking about the adverse implications of the proposed plan.
In Pashinyan’s words, as a result of merging some ministries, the new ministries cannot afford having two legal departments, multiple accountants, and other senior staff.
“Since the employees working in those positions are usually high qualified, they will not face difficulties in finding new jobs in the market. Other employees will not be dismissed at this point and will be trained to get necessary skills to be competitive in the job market,” the PM said.
Pashinyan next said, the number of employees to be dismissed at the initial phase of the optimization is around 150-200 people.
To note, according to the new government structure, the Ministry of Culture is merged to the Ministry of Education and Sciences as a department, while the Ministry of Agriculture will be unified with the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments. Meanwhile, the functions of the Diaspora Ministry will be passed on an Ambassador-at-large for relations with Diaspora.
